Victoria Cross Rally on schedule to run on 5 November

Forest Fire Management Victoria has today advised that a permit will be issued for the Victoria Cross Rally, albeit with substantial reductions in the available roads due to damage from recent rain events. So rather than cancel, we’ll do the best we can to reorganise the event at short notice.

The Victoria Cross will now comprise three special stages, each run twice, for a total competitive distance of 52.7km. Total event distance will be 159.4km. The start, service location and finish remain at the State Motorcycle Complex, Broadford with the first car starting at 7.45pm. Spectators can view the action at No 1 Camp from 10.50pm.

Entries close next Monday, 31 October at 20:00hrs and can be made via the Motorsport Australia entry portal.

In addition to being rounds of the Victorian Club Rally Series, the HRA Rally Championship and, for the Regularity component, the HRA Standard Car Class Series, the event is open to grade A and other competitors who may wish to compete prior to the Alpine Rally, subject to the field not being fully subscribed by crews qualifying for these championships.

Sunday Rally Garage #2 – This Sunday 25 September

Join us from 12 noon for a low-key ‘Rally Show & Tell’ in an HRA member’s garage

Following the success of last year’s ‘Sunday Rally Garage’, we’re having another, this time at Gerry Bashford’s place in Tullamarine (see below for address) with easy access off the Tullamarine Freeway.

As well as poking around in Gerry’s garage known for its four cylinder Ford product, why not wash your rally car (or special other car) and bring it along so we can all have a look and a chat about them.

Tour of the 1984 George Derrick Memorial Trial

Friday 17 March to Sunday 19 March 2023

Cover, 1984 Derrick

Originally planned to happen in October 2022, the Tour route and schedule clashed with the Alpine Rally of East Gippsland and Tour needed to be postponed.

Before the 2019 Mallee Tour of the 1981 George Derrick Memorial Trial had concluded, a rough plan was hatched for the next tour of a Ross Runnalls epic car trial. This one would go to the opposite end of the state and pick up the route of one of Ross’ three Victorian High Country / Gippsland trials.

The 1984 George Derrick route was selected, due to the roads, the views, the diversity of the country visited, (did we mention the roads) plus some of the organisers having issues left unresolved from 1984! This event visited all of South Gippsland, East Gippsland and SE NSW.
