Officials needed for the Southern Classic Rally

Your Committee made a decision to co-promote the forthcoming Southern Classic Rally with the Ford Four Car Club.

This is to be held on November 18 as an all-daylight rally held around Marysville.

As the larger club with more members, it is hoped that we can do the heavy lifting for the supply of officials. We need control officials and road closure officials.

The event consists of 10 competitive stages which equates to 20 sets of officials to run those controls. What is a set? Four would be ideal. That is 80 people and then there are 100 road closure officials required too. This is a big event that with your support will grow!

WE NEED YOU! YOUR SPORT NEEDS YOU!! OUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!!!

Contact Stephen Young, HRA President and the event Official’s Coordinator to book a spot to help the Historic Rally Association and Ford Four Car Club grow classic rallying in Vic Rally.

Shannons naming rights sponsor of 2024 Rally Retro Festival

Yes, Shannons have decided to share in OUR passion, coming on board to support our event on Saturday February 17 next year.

To be known as the Shannons Rally Retro Festival, the support of Shannons, especially their presence in the motoring media landscape, will take our event and the expected number of enthusiasts who visit, to a whole new level.

Shannons is Australia’s leading insurance provider for motoring enthusiasts and it’s a great vote of confidence stemming from success of the last 4 events and the organization of the HRA generally.

Shannons Business Development Manager Belinda Douglas said: “Shannons have been a long term supporter of Historic Motor Racing since Robert Shannon started what we now know as Shannons Insurance today.

We are proud to be able to continue that legacy and support the growing and exciting sport of Historic Rally in what will be “The Shannons Rally Retro Festival in 2024”.

Our team on the ground will be all fired up to support the competitors and interact with the punters on the day.”

Alpine Rally Survey

Why does the Alpine Rally need a survey?

Quite simply the Historic Rally Association (HRA) is at a crossroads in regard to the Alpine Rally’s future.

In its current form, a multi-day special event, the club has neither the qualified administration personnel nor a Clerk of Course, for such an event. In a reduced format, with fewer days and competitive kilometres, it may not be the case.

This survey serves multiple purposes. It identifies what the competitors want in regard to the event format and style, the demand for this type of event and it may even reveal other interested parties who might wish to take on the challenge of directing an Alpine Rally.

It does not signify that the HRA is not interested in running events. We have over seven events on the calendar for 2024.

Rather, it acknowledges that we have run ‘the big one’ and we don’t have the capability at present for another ‘big one’. It also respects The Alpine Rally and the fact that this event and its history is not just one club’s event but an event that belongs to all who are interested in and support the rally aspect of motorsport in Australia.

Please take a moment… use the link below, complete the survey and let us know what you think about the 101th, and beyond, Alpine Rally.

Yours in motorsport,
Stephen Young
HRA President
